I love fresh flowers, but I don’t love spending a fortune on them. Our Trader Joe’s sells seeded eucalyptus for $2.99 a bunch and hydrangeas for $5.99 a bunch. I think the roses were a little more expensive at $9.99, but you can see how many I was able to buy at that price! If you don’t have access to a Trader Joe’s near you, check out your local grocery store for floral options. They tend to have beautiful blooms for a fraction of the price of floral shops. Walmart is also a great option. The potted pink hyacinth in the background is from Walmart and was only $5!

Centuries collide to yield a jewel box of a dining room in this New York City apartment designed by author Maureen Footer. A large Aubusson tapestry from Galerie Perpitch & Bringand visually enlarges the tiny space, and provides old-world contrast to the sleek Saarenin table and Brno chairs from Knoll. The walls are clad with a Lee Jofa silk velvet, and the Louis XV-style chandelier is from Nesle Inc.

Elegant style takes a laidback turn in this New York City dining room designed by Ashley Whittaker. A woven rug from Serena and Lily sets a casual tone for the bold Prussian blue Gracie wallcovering and a slew of antiques, like the table from Christie’s and the chandelier. Whittaker also shook things up by upholstering the dining chairs, from John Rosselli & Associates, in two fabrics: the outside backs are covered in a floral Muriel Brandolini fabric while inside backs and seats in a plum Global Leathers leather. Silk curtains from Scalamandre plus an antique mirror from 1stdibs play up the room’s height.
A dining room chandelier illuminates most dining rooms. Whether your taste is traditional, contemporary, or something else altogether it's likely that you'll have a chandelier hanging over your dining room table. A chandelier is often the focal point in a dining room, so it's important to get a dining room chandelier that not only works well with your décor, but that is also the right size.
